The Compassionate FriendsThe death of a child at any age, from any cause, is a shattering experience for a family. When a child dies, where does a family turn for the emotional support they will need during the grief journey that lies ahead of them? For over fifteen years, The Compassionate Friends, a non-denominational self-help support group, has been quietly helping families toward the positive resolution of their grief following the death of a child. Two different groups of Compassionate Friends meet monthly for mutual encouragement and support on the second Thursday and fourth Wednesday of each month. (See the church calendar for specifics.) These gatherings provide a caring environment in which bereaved parents and other adult family members can talk freely and receive the understanding support of others who have "been there." |
In addition, The Compassionate Friends publishes a newsletter, maintains a lending library of pertinent materials, and holds memorial events during the year. For more information, contact Lonnie at 651–426–5375, send email or visit The Compassionate Friends National Web Site. |
In addition, Beaver Lake's facility can be made available for community organizations for occasional use for banquets or other gatherings. Contact the Church Office for more information on our smoke and alcohol-free facilities.
